My progress

Ok, this is the computer wall where the leak was at. I am taking advantage of the open wall to add a few plugs. Today I added the orange boxes. They are audio cables for my computer speakers. They both terminate at the orange box on the floor. From there will will run into my sound system amplifier. It will be nice to get them off of the desk.

Also, today I added the black cable on the very top right. It is the right rear speaker for the surround sound for the TV going above the fireplace.

In this wall I have 12 plugs. There is one at desk level which will be nice. The router and cable modem will be in the basement immediately below the desk. This should make it so my computer monitors and the phone will be the only items on the desk, of course along with my keyboard and mouse. It will be nice to get rid of the clutter.

These bottom 2 images show the front of the room on the left side of the fireplace floor level. Here are the connections for all of the speakers, component video, and audio. Each of these connections required a wire pull. It is really not too bad of a project. The first wire I pulled was romax 14g wire for the power supply. I was lucky because the main power for the house is immediately below this area. This made it relatively easy to put this system on its own circuit.

I used coax cable (RG6), the shield type for the video and audio pulls. There are three component lines and 2 video lines. The TV connection uses the same type of cable. The speaker pulls in the back of the room where the hardest to pull. I had to buy a fishing tape (used by electricians) to do one of the pulls. I the ntook it back to Home Depot (naughty me,)

I'm ready now to insulate and put the sheet rock back on. The piece if sheet rock in my computer wall will be a nightmarish measuring handy man project with tons of measuring. Then comes the taping, mudding and texture.

Sorry to bore you all to death, but this is what I've been up too. If you have never added a plug in your home, its very easy to do. Alsothe it, these video and audio lines are pretty easy to pull. The hard part was finding the best parts to use for the project. I ended up buying most of the components are Merlin's TV. Home Deport and Lowes, had the connections, but they were not the best quality. I would say, I've probably spent $300 or more for this part of the renovation.

I'll try to post updates as this room progresses.

Tammy found a rug for the room at Lowes. It was on sale for $98.00, regular price a about $400.00
