Stairs

Today I decided to switch directions and work on the stairs. The mud was drying and this was part of the floor project originally planned. It turned out to be a bigger project then I planned. I tore out the carpet, which took about 3 hours after removing the zillions of staples. Then I couldn't get the steps off. After sawing a hole in the steps I found out that they were glued and nailed so I plan on putting the new steps on top of the original ones. This meant I needed to saw off the rounded front edge. That was a major project. Yes, this picture doesn't look good, but after fitting the new treads it will look great. So...my list is getting to be as long as Melanie's for home projects. I need to get moving on all these projects or I'm not going to get them done.

Tomorrow: insulation and tape above the fireplace and maybe staining the new steps.

Too bad about the hole. Thanks for helping us out with our projects too. I know you're busy. You're the best dad in the world. I love you.

so what are you doing on the stairs, are you putting the hardwood there too?

Yeah, can you believe it. It's like I don't have enough to do already, but we decided we would like hardwood on the steps too. I'll tackle that on Monday.
