Brian is Home

Brian arrived in Pocatello at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. We made him dinner which consisted of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread, etc. The red meat is what he wanted the most. He said....."I want something that doesn't have rice in it." We can tell that Krista is a true shopper. She had the suitcases filled to the brim with some pretty neat stuff. Tammy especially like the sewing items and the beautiful material's that Krista has collected. Good job Krista! I hope you all enjoy these pictures!
These are a few pictures of some of the things that Krista and Brian packed in the suitcases. It was interesting to see their treasures from Taiwan. He looks good and will be headed back to Taiwan on Monday. Yesterday he went to a job fair held at the University of Utah. He is looking for a teaching job for the next school year. We sure hope that he finds one. Regardless, it is fun to have him here with us for a few short days. He is very tired and is in bed as I am typing this up. It is now Friday morning at about 7:00 a.m.

Angela is holding a few wooden puppets. There were several of them and they are very cute.

Here is a close up of the lion puppet. You press on the bottom and the joints bend. I think you probably have all seen the plastic version of these toys.

Another puppet

This thing that Brian is attempting to smooch is an origami. It is completely made of paper. He had a pineapple too, but I didn't get a picture of it to post. He thought this would be a good project for some of his students to make and things he can construct a similar one.

Tyler, Angie, & Cory playing with a very cool lion string puppet.

Tyler really liked it!

Well, that's about it for this posting. I am headed to school today and Brian is trying to catch up on some well deserved sleep. It's hard with this 15 hour time change and he gets to do it all over again as he returns on Monday. I think he plans on having dinner with the Allen's tomorrow. This evening we may go out to eat. He wants to go to Taco Bell of all places and Wingers. Maybe we can convince him of Iguana's or something like that.

Also, I thought this was funny. Krista wants Brian to bring her a 12 pack of diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, which he is going to carry as his carry-on.

Oh ya....it was nice to see Brian again. I even made him his favorite ginger snap cookies. I really liked the cool things he brought back home. They're awesome. I want to go to Taiwan now!

Nice to see Brian made it all the way back. It is a long plane trip, I don't envy him having to take it at least 2 more times (back on Monday, and when he comes home for good).

Brian and Krista sent us one of those puppets. Blake thought it was funny. Way to go Krista! If I was in Taiwan, I would totally make Travis bring me back diet Coke

It's funny, because you can get Coke Light here...not Diet Coke, Coke Light....and it is NOT THE SAME!!! But....I guess you get used to it.

It was great to read about Brian's visit home to Pocatello. How did he fare at the job fair? Sure hope he has a decent job waiting for him when he returns to the states. If not, he's still a strapping young man and should have no trouble finding a great job.

The gifts Brian brought back from Taiwan look really fun (and colorful)!
